How Do You Ship a CNC Machine Without Damage?

Plan around the specific machine: its weight, center of gravity, lift points and covers. Then load it on an air ride trailer, chain it at the base and keep it dry.

Greater Los Angeles buys and sells more used machinery than anywhere in the country. Machines come off port docks, out of auctions, off dealer floors and out of shops that are closing or expanding.

Every one of them is worth too much to ride with a broker who sees it as just a load. We arrange transport for mills, lathes, machining centers, grinders and press brakes with a plan built for that machine, and we schedule with your rigger on both ends.

Machines headed to a mine or quarry fall under our mining equipment transport service.

Protection

How Do We Protect a CNC Machine on the Road?

The machine is prepped, wrapped, chained at the base and covered, so it arrives the way it left your floor.

Axes and spindle get locked down per the manufacturer, coolant gets drained, and the machine gets shrink wrapped. The driver chains it at the base or skid with padded edges and covers it with tarps or a Conestoga.

  • Air ride suspension to soften the road
  • Chains at the base, never over sheet metal
  • Shrink wrap plus tarps or a Conestoga
  • Photos at pickup when you ask

Dealers, buyers and riggers

Who Do We Move CNC Machines For?

Dealers, buyers, auction winners, job shops and the riggers who load them. We schedule with all of them every week.

Removal deadlines get hit, crane windows get met, and the buyer gets photos and updates from pickup to delivery. If a machine is coming in through the port, our port drayage team pulls it right off the dock.

  • Machinery dealers and auction houses
  • Job shops upgrading or relocating
  • Buyers who need a machine out by Friday
  • Riggers on both ends of the move
TIP

Send the spec sheet

The machine's weight, footprint and lift points from the spec sheet help us pick the right trailer and avoid surprises at pickup.

CNC Machinery Transport FAQs

Lock the axes and spindle the way the manufacturer recommends, drain coolant, shrink wrap the machine, then load it on an air ride trailer and chain it at the base or skid, never over the covers or sheet metal.

Most CNC machines ride on an air ride flatbed or step deck. Tall machines go on a step deck to stay under legal height, and machines that must stay dry go in a Conestoga.

We work with your rigger on both ends and schedule the truck around their crane or forklift. If you need a rigger, we can point you to crews we trust in Southern California.

Yes. Auction and dealer pickups are a big part of what we do. We work around removal deadlines and loading windows so the machine gets out on time.

If there is any chance of rain or road spray, yes. A Conestoga is the cleanest option because the rolling tarp covers the machine without pressing straps over the top.

Yes. Two or three smaller machines often fit on one step deck. If you only have one machine, it may share a deck through our partial truckload service.

Not usually for domestic moves. Shrink wrap, a sturdy skid and good blocking are typically enough. Crating is smart for export or long, multi stop trips.
