Why quote LTL through IZ Freight?

IZ Freight is powered by its parent company, Armstrong Transport Group, headquartered in Charlotte, NC. Your LTL quote runs through Armstrong's LTL platform, so one request reaches the major national and regional LTL carriers.

50+Tier one national and regional LTL carriers
75,000+Vetted carriers in Armstrong's network
225+Armstrong full-time employees behind every load

How much can one LTL pallet weigh?

Plan on about 3,000 lb or less per standard 48 x 40 inch pallet, stacked no higher than about 84 inches. Most LTL carriers handle that without special approval. Heavier pieces, pallets over about 8 feet long or loads past six pallets usually price better as a partial truckload. See the full pallet guidelines.

What Armstrong's LTL platform does for your freight

Armstrong built its LTL desk around ATGFr8, its own transportation management system. Here is what that means for a pallet leaving Los Angeles.

1

Real-time, multi-carrier pricing

ATGFr8 pulls live rates by API from the nation’s leading LTL carriers, so you compare price and transit days side by side instead of waiting on call-backs.

2

Three ways to price LTL

Traditional LTL, volume LTL for shipments bigger than standard LTL but smaller than a partial, and client-specific pricing programs for steady shippers.

3

Visibility after you book

Customers get 24/7 portal access to quotes, load documents and tracking. A real person on the LTL desk owns your shipment and helps with claims.

Armstrong reports that shippers save 15% on average versus published LTL rates. Savings vary by lane, freight and current pricing.

Which LTL carriers fit your lane?

National carriers cover the lower 48. Regional carriers are often strongest inside their core states. We compare both on every quote.

LTL quote FAQ

Freight class is the NMFC rating LTL carriers use to price a shipment. For most freight it follows density: weight divided by cubic feet. Give us the weight and the pallet dimensions and we estimate the class, then confirm it before booking. If you are not sure, leave it on “Not sure” in the form.

Multiply length x width x height in inches for each pallet or crate, divide by 1,728 to get cubic feet, then divide the weight by that number. Example: a 48 x 40 x 48 inch pallet is about 53.3 cubic feet. At 500 lb it has a density of about 9.4 lb per cubic foot.

Armstrong’s LTL platform prices across 50+ national and regional carriers, including FedEx Freight, Old Dominion, XPO, Estes, TForce Freight, Saia, R+L Carriers, ABF Freight, Averitt and Southeastern Freight Lines. We match the carrier to your lane, not the other way around.

Tell us if either end needs a liftgate, is a residence, a limited-access site (school, jobsite, storage unit, farm), needs inside delivery, an appointment or a call before delivery, or if the freight is hazmat or over 12 feet long. Listing them up front keeps the quote from changing at invoice time.

Every LTL carrier carries liability coverage limited by freight class and weight. For high-value freight you can add extra cargo coverage to the shipment, up to $2.5M, or up to $500K on Mexico cross-border loads. Ask when you quote.

No. IZ Freight is a freight agency powered by Armstrong Transport Group. We book your freight with vetted LTL carriers and manage it from pickup to delivery.
