Aerospace logistics is the planning and trucking of aircraft engines, airframe parts, helicopters, tooling and ground equipment between suppliers, MRO shops, airports and assembly plants.
IZ Freight coordinates aerospace freight shipping out of Los Angeles every week. We match each load with the right trailer from our network of carriers, line the pickup up with your hangar or dock crew, and keep one coordinator on the shipment until it is delivered.
Most of our aerospace loads start in the Los Angeles aerospace corridor, around LAX, Long Beach, Burbank, Palmdale and Ontario, and deliver anywhere in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

A light helicopter usually rides on a step deck or lowboy, set down on its skids and strapped at the skid cross tubes.
The truck meets you at the hangar, your crew or a crane sets the helicopter on the deck, and the driver secures it at the skids before rolling. The rotor blades are tied down or removed and crated, depending on the aircraft and the route.
From there it can head anywhere in the USA, Canada or Mexico through our network of carriers and be delivered hangar to hangar. See every deck option on our trailer types page.

If it flies, supports flight or helps build an aircraft, we can match it with the right trailer from our network of carriers.
Turbofan and turboprop engines on their transport stands, shipped to and from MRO shops, test cells and airline maintenance bases. This is the core of our jet engine transport work.
Light and medium helicopters, usually with the main rotor blades removed and crated, riding low on a lowboy or double drop.
Fuselage barrels, wing panels, empennage parts and flight control surfaces in fixtures or cradles, often over legal width.
Tugs, belt loaders, deicers, air start units and stairs. Self-propelled GSE can often drive on and off a lowboy or RGN.
Assembly jigs, bond and cure tools, and inspection fixtures built by Southern California shops for final assembly lines.
Landing gear, APUs, avionics racks and crated parts. Smaller aircraft parts trucking often fits a partial or LTL load.
AOG freight is any part needed to return an aircraft on ground to service, so the truck is planned around the aircraft, not the other way around.
When you call with an AOG load, we confirm the part's dimensions, weight and pickup window first, then find the nearest truck in our network of carriers that fits it. For long runs, a team of two drivers keeps the truck moving while one driver rests.
You get a check call at pickup, regular updates on the road and a heads up before arrival, so the hangar crew is ready when the part shows up.

We start the truck search as soon as we have the specs, and we tell you honestly what timing is realistic.
Dedicated trucks, team drivers and hotshots for smaller parts, depending on size, weight and distance.
Hangar, ramp or MRO dock delivery, with the gate and contact details sorted before the truck leaves.
Airport delivery means a truck has to get through security, onto the right ramp or into the right hangar, and be unloaded with the right equipment.
Airports and MRO facilities run on access rules. Before the truck is dispatched, we confirm the gate, the escort or badge requirements, the delivery hours and the person meeting the driver. Then we share that with the carrier in writing.
We also confirm how the freight comes off the trailer. An engine on a stand may roll off with a tug or come off with a forklift. A helicopter or airframe section often needs a crane and a rigging crew.

Gate location, escort needs, driver ID requirements and ramp rules confirmed with your airport or FBO contact.
We line the truck up with your crane, forklift or rigging crew, and confirm the deck height and the side the freight comes off.
Pickup and delivery set to shift times and hangar availability, with a call before arrival.
A jet engine is shipped on its transport stand, and the stand and trailer together decide how much road shock reaches the engine.
Most engine stands have shock mounts and marked tie-down points. The driver secures the stand at those points, never the engine itself, and the cover stays on to keep out dirt and moisture.
Air-ride trailers soften vibration for engines, avionics and precision tooling. A step deck or double drop keeps a tall engine and stand under legal height, and an oversized or permitted load is planned when it will not fit.

Tell us the engine model, the stand type and its weight, the overall height on the stand, and whether it has shock mounts or a shipping cover. Those details decide the trailer, and getting them right up front avoids a wasted truck.

We arrange pickups across the Los Angeles aerospace corridor and delivery anywhere in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
Southern California is one of the country's biggest aerospace regions, from the test and production sites around Palmdale to the suppliers near LAX, Long Beach, Burbank and Ontario.
Cross-border loads are planned with your customs broker before the truck leaves. Heading to Washington? Our Seattle to Los Angeles backhaul guide explains that lane. Coming through the ports? See freight forwarder trucking and port drayage.
We work with tooling shops shipping to final assembly, MRO shops sending engines and components out and back, operators moving helicopters and GSE, and dealers selling used aircraft parts.
Moving machine tools too? See CNC machinery transport, EDM machine transport and injection molding machine transport. For weather-sensitive freight, read our Conestoga machinery transport guide.

Send us the details, and we come back with a quote and a plan.
Tell us what is moving, with the length, width, height and weight, the stand or crate details, photos if you have them, and the pickup and delivery locations.
We send back an all-in quote that spells out the trailer type and any permits, escorts or special equipment the load will need.
We match the load to a step deck, double drop, RGN, air-ride flatbed or Conestoga based on its real height, weight and sensitivity.
We confirm gate access, appointment times, loading equipment and the contact at each end before the truck is dispatched.
The driver secures the freight at its tie-down points, adds any cover or tarp, and sends photos before leaving the pickup.
You hear from the same coordinator the whole way, with a call before arrival so your crew is ready to unload.
Big or tall loads usually move as full truckload (FTL), while smaller parts can ride as partial truckload (PTL) or LTL.
Step decks and double drops keep tall engines and tooling under legal height, RGNs and lowboys carry helicopters and heavy GSE, air-ride flatbeds smooth the ride for sensitive parts, and Conestogas keep freight dry. See every option on our trailer types page.
